Dr. Joseph Yang was born in Alaska and spent his childhood growing up in California, Oregon, and Washington. He has always considered the West Coast his home. While he was living in Washington, he met his wife, Dr. Rachel Yang, a breast cancer surgeon, in their high school calculus class.
He now lives in the Bay Area and is excited to bring exceptional oral surgery care to patients of all ages in San Francisco.
Dr. Yang earned his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He attended dental school at the University of Pennsylvania and was awarded a full scholarship to simultaneously obtain his Master’s degree in bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He graduated in the top ten of his dental school class and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Yang completed his combined medical degree/oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at UCSF.
Dr. Yang belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Francisco Dental Society, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
When he’s not at work, Dr. Yang and his wife enjoy cooking, traveling, and raising their son.
